Google Ads Is ENDING Expanded Text Ads

“Starting June 30, 2022, responsive search ads will be the only Search ad type that can be created or edited in standard Search campaigns. This change will help simplify the way you create Search ads and make it easier for you to drive performance with our automated tools.”

We knew this was coming back when google made the first move to make responsive ads the default about a year ago. It is all a part of their quest toward full automation in advertising.

For now you can still pin certain lines and text in certain orders in responsive ads and make them more like expanded text ads however Google is already switching where call outs and other extensions appear in text ads right now. This order change in where extensions appear is already turning expanding text ads into responsive ads.

Ultimately Google is always going to what will produce the most clicks – not necessarily the right clicks so be careful and always go through what data you have to make sure you are not wasting money with the changes that Google implements.

It is also always a good practice to try and find your ads by doing searches in a preview tool or vpn like Bright local search results checker. This way you can see how your ads are appearing to users and can make changes to your responsive or expanded text ads.
